About Dr. Bharat Sangani

Dr. Bharat Sangani finished his Cardiology Fellowship at Mount Carmel Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio in 1988. Upon completion, Dr. Sangani wanted to utilize his education and experience to make a difference in the area of Cardiology advancement and find a place to practice that had not reached its full extent. Upon a visit to the Gulf Coast of Mississippi, it was surprising to him to find that local advanced cardiac patients, especially those who needed balloon angioplasty, had to travel to either Mobile, Alabama, or New Orleans, Louisiana to receive treatment. With this knowledge, Dr. Sangani researched the idea of bringing an angioplasty program to the Gulf Coast and encountered resistance due to the lack of confidence and unavailability of an experienced cardiac team to perform the angioplasty procedure.

Dr. Sangani decided not to let any obstacles stand in his way and moved to Mississippi to create a team of qualified professionals in order to provide the finest and latest cardiology treatment options to the local community. As of 2020, Dr. Sangani practices in both Gulfport, Mississippi, and Dallas, Texas with over 35 years of experience. Dr. Sangani specializes in diagnosing, monitoring, and treating diseases or conditions of the heart and blood vessels and the cardiovascular system. These conditions include heart attacks, heart murmurs, coronary heart disease, and hypertension. He also practices preventative medicine, helping patients maintain a heart-healthy life. Dr. Sangani is board-certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Coronary Stent Placement

Coronary stent placement typically takes place at the same time as angioplasty, which is a procedure used to open clogged heart arteries. Angioplasty uses a tiny balloon catheter that is inserted in a blocked blood vessel to help widen it and improve blood flow. This procedure is often combined with the placement of a small wire mesh tube called a stent. The stent helps keep the artery open, lowering its chance of narrowing again. This procedure can improve symptoms of blocked arteries, such as chest pain and shortness of breath.
